Still tweaking a few things on the site... use to be BJVlog. But now it's just JVlog with more pictures and maybe a little less video. But we will see! Stay tuned in and find out how it goes, I know I will! ;-*

Tuesday May 6

I know we showed our garden before but now it's all done and we are both so proud. We also have a new couple with us. We are all very happy to nest and enjoy the sunshine days!

Purple basil is basil, just like sweet basil. I think it has more of a cinnamon quality to its flavor. You can use it in any recipe that would normally use basil, but I particularly like it in colder salads. It would probably be interesting to make a purple pesto (would look cool).
Every year at the end of the season I make a HUGE batch of pesto and freeze it in ice cube trays. Then we have it all winter for cooking and sauces.

The Cardinals are just beautiful!! I have one in my back yard once in a while. I love to watch him:)

The mail box looks beautimous!!

I really like the idea of the rock beds. Hmm... now my wheels are turning:)

AWWW!! It is so nice to meet George and Gracie! They are soooo cute!;)

I am glad you like my little Central Bank spot:) It is so nice to have a copy of it. I do so many things, and never get a copy. It's harder than one might think to acquire copies of your work:(

Well, you guys enjoy your evening. If I were you, I would sit on the back porch with some tea, and just look at what a beautiful job you did:)

Talk to you soon:)

What a beautiful yard you all have, and I love your new family members.
Here's a recipe for purple basil, but first I need your help Jason.
I'm having such a hard time uploading my videos, even on my blog on this site, I can't get them to upload. not sure what the problem is. Any advice?

"Fresh Mozzarella Watermelon Salad with Purple Basil"
2 c. small watermelon balls
2 c. fresh Mozzarella pieces
1 c. Chopped purple basil
1 bunch scallions, trimmed & chopped
1/3 c. EVOO
salt and pepper to taste
Drizzle Balsamic Vinegar glaze as desired
Toss together the watermelon, Mozz, basil, scallions and oil, season with salt and pepper to taste, Serve on a bed of baby greens with Crostini on the sides, then Drizzle a bit of balsamic vinegar glaze over if desired.

You can also make Purple Basil Pesto too!

Enjoy and talk to you later,
Thanks
